Mexico

Since last February 2018, my husband and I have been doing a home study on learning how to read, write, and eventually speak Spanish. We have been taking monthly trips to Spanish speaking countries too, and decided to give Mexico a try. We had been before to places like Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del, Carmen, Merida, Progresso, Costa Maya, and Ensenada which were part of various cruise itineraries. But, in order to truly have a language immersion experience, we thought it was time to stay in a large city and try using our limited Spanish.

Mexico city was wonderful, safe, friendly, and easy to explore on our own. You will find many wonderful surprises in this fantastic city. Live performances in many of the public squares, beautiful breeds of dogs walked by professional dog walkers in the many parks, squirrels that eat out of your hands and adult exercise equipment can also be found in the many parks of Mexico city. Cathedrals that are every bit as ornate as those you would find in Europe are abundant, and little cafes, good food, and adventure can be found on every corner.

In this blog, I am even going to make an attempt to write in Spanish (along with English) for added practice. I hope you will enjoy reading about our experience here as much as I enjoyed writing about it.

(We enjoyed our stay at the Galeria Plaza Reforma and enjoyed the location a lot. It is located within walking distance to many of the popular sights listed below. The staff speaks English, but will also be patient if you prefer to practice speaking Spanish.)

We ate other restaurants too, but these stand out as being good places that allow you to practice Spanish when ordering food.)
